Attendance: Jacqueline Hurlbutt, Nick Larkin, Paul Hackbert, Judy Tirpack, Jim Churchill, Jean Paradis, Helen Bledsoe, and Pam Elsner.
An Executive Session was held in which the Board accepted the resignation of Rich Bettencourt from the Executive Board. As it was questioned if any of the board members had any ownership of a bridge club, it was determined that no board members owned a bridge club.
Jean Paradis moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted as correctd and Jackie Hurlbutt seconded. The minutes were accepted.
The Treasurer Judy Tirpack provided the Treasurer’s Report. The total in the bank accounts is $22,798.46, as of July 5, 2012.
OLD BUSINESS
Jackie Hurlbutt was introduced as the newest member of the Unit 364 Executive Board. Jackie has a banking background. The need for a ninth board member was discussed. The requirement for that person would hopefully include a willingness to provide assistance and carry out the movement of tables and equipment to various tournament sites. Board members were asked to consider potential members.
The Doc Holiday tournament was discussed. The financial component of the tournament has been resolved. The timing of the cocktail party was discussed in that it appeared that it was fairly costly for a Thursday event. It was suggested that perhaps a Saturday evening event would increase attendance. This issue will be explored.
Jean Paradis report that the membership directory has been published.
A regional in Vail, 2014 was discussed and a committee was formulated, including, but not limited to Jackie Hurlbutt, Pam Elsner, Paul Hackbert. Other possible suggestions were volunteered.
Pam Elsner will be working on bylaws and presenting them to different clubs from mid-September through November.
NEW BUSINESS
A new club in Crested Butte has been created for the summer and named the “CB Summer Bridge Club”.
The Four Corners tournament was deemed successful with a profit of $161.94.
The Black Canyon Section will be held September 21, 22 and 23rd at the Aquatic Center in Montrose. The Black Canyon flier has been created and notice is in the Bridge Forum and the ACBL magazine. The proposed budget for the tournament was accepted. Hotel rates are from $59 to $112 per night.
It was suggested that the Unit contribute to the fire victims of the Colorado fires via the Red Cross. An email could be created asking if the individuals are interested in this as well. Jean Paradis moved that $150 be donated to the Red Cross, specifying that it be provided to the victims of the Colorado fires. Pam Elsner seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
The next board meeting was tentatively set for August 29, 2012.
The meeting was adjourned.
